💡 Three Ways to Master Winter Light:
1. Look Up: The Power of the Roof
Some of the most effective solutions come from above:
Rooflights: Draw in up to three times more light than a vertical window. They are perfect for main living areas and extensions.
Sun Tunnels: A cost-effective solution for small, dark spaces like hallways and utility rooms. They bring daylight straight from the roof.

2. Strategic Glazing and Orientation
Don't just add a window; consider its purpose and location:
Go Big: Use bifolds or full-height windows on south-facing walls. This maximises solar gain, providing warmth and light all day.
Corner Windows: Placing windows on two adjacent walls allows light to penetrate deeper and more evenly into the room.
North-Facing: Consider positioning windows higher up. They provide a cool, consistent, and glare-free light—ideal for offices and workspaces.
3. Amplify Light Internally
The final touch is to use interior choices to reflect and bounce light:
Light Materials: Use pale, reflective colours (whites, off-whites) on walls and ceilings to prevent light absorption.
Gloss Finishes: Satin or high-gloss paints and finishes for cabinets and worktops can be more effective at amplifying light than matte finishes.
Mirrors: Strategically placed mirrors opposite windows will visually duplicate the light source and expand the feeling of space.
